The Metropolitan Mayors Caucus has awarded a grant to the Township of Lyons to educate residents about energy efficiency and share resources that can reduce household energy burden.  The Caucus leads several environmental initiatives that support efforts to conserve energy and water, reduce waste and pollution, and create sustainable landscapes in the Chicago region.  The energy efficiency outreach and engagement grant will help low-income households reduce energy use and lower bills, make our region more resilient in the face of climate change.

The Township of Lyons will integrate energy efficiency education into is existing community programs, while reaching out to local organizations for opportunities to reach more residents.  Resources available to residents from low-income households include free energy assessments and free products.  Some residents may also qualify for weatherization and heating/cooling improvements.

During 2026, we will be hosting and attending events to share information and resources with residents from low-income households.  If you would like more information about the grant, energy efficiency resources, or upcoming events, please contact our Sustainability Coordinator, Rose Naseef at rnaseef@lyonsts.com.

The Township of Lyons is grateful for this opportunity and has signed on to the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus Greenest Region Compact to continue working toward regional sustainability goals.
