Environmental Coalition

The purpose of the Township of Lyons environmental enhancement coalition is to bring people together who are interested in ensuring a healthy environment for all citizens in the Township, as well as for future generations. Monarch Butterfly Conservation

The Township of Lyons Clerk’s Office is passionate about native plants and pollinators. If you share this passion and want a FREE milkweed seed packet to help Monarch butterflies, write an email to our office Community Outreach Manager, Molly Price, at mprice@lyonsts.com. Reuse & Recycling Collections

To assist the community with efforts to reduce waste, the Township collects the following items: soda can tabs, used eye glasses, hearing aids, printer cartridges, phones, shoes, cords/wires (phone, computer, electrical), holiday light strands, keys (house, luggage, car), corks (natural only, no plastic), American flags (worn).  Please see our Donations/Recycling webpage for details.

Repair Cafe

To extend the life of products and prevent items from prematurely going to a landfill, the Township hosts a monthly Repair Cafe. Types of repairs include small appliances (i.e. coffee makers), lamps, torn clothing, costume jewelry, sharpening for dull knives. Please see our Repair Cafe webpage for dates and guidelines.

Energy Efficiency Education

The Township has received a grant from the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus to educate ComEd homeowners about the benefits of saving energy and provide them with resources.  Saving energy at home helps residents save money while reducing pollution and mitigating the effects of climate change.  Please see  our webpage that describes the grant and the efforts the Township will be making in 2026 to reach ComEd customers.
